Welcome to Episode 35: Begin with Thanks
Here are a few Positives Effects based on research of why we should "Begin with Thanks":
In the area of emotional well-being:
1. Make you live a happier life. I share journaling is an effective habit in my life. Research states journaling for five minutes a day about specifically in what we are grateful for can enhance our long-term happiness by over 10% (Emmons & McCullough, 2003; Seligman, Steen, Park, & Peterson, 2005)
In the area of mental well-being:
2. Aid in keeping depression and suicidal thoughts at bay. Practicing gratitude is a protective factor helping in our weakest moments.
In the area of spiritual well-being:
3. Increase your spiritual outlook. When you allow your spiritual life to take reign, you tend to be more grateful. Gratitude opens the gate for blessings.
In the area of social well-being:
4. Improves our relationships. Based on studies, it was found that expressing gratitude to our significant others results in improved quality in the relationship (Algoe, Fredrickson, & Gable, 2013).
In the area of physical well-being:
5. Improves your physical health. Evidence shows that the more grateful a person is the more likely he or she is to enjoy better physical health, as well as psychological health (Hill, Allemand, & Roberts, 2013).
In the area of work well-being:
16. Helps you find meaning in your work. Finding meaning and purpose helps you to be effective in your work.
